The iPad Mini will be getting its first redesign in 6 years, and the iPad Pro will have wireless charging.
According to Bloomberg’sMark Gurman, Apple would release the iPad Mini in the second half of this year. The tablet is borrowing the design language from the iPad Pro with slim bezels and an all-screen display.
The redesign comes in an attempt to continue the momentum the device category saw in the pandemic. People are stuck at home and are finding new ways to work, study and stay entertained at home, which caused a 43% increase in sales for iPads in the last six months of 2020 compared to the same time the previous year.
The iPad Pro will also get a new design. The main design change will be that Apple will replace the aluminum enclosure with a glass back, making the iPads much similar to the iPhones.
The Pro will also get wireless charging (possibly the new MagSafe too). These plans could change before its launch next year as Apple’s iPad Pro development is still in the early stages.
